Danielle DuPuis is a Junior in the honors college at the University of Florida studying Microbiology and Cell Sciences with a minor in Spanish and a certificate of Music in Medicine.  She is the current president of the UF Undergraduate American Medical Women’s Association and founder of UF Music Meets Medicine, spreading awareness about novel research and bringing music to the veterans at her local VA Hospital.  As a musician of over 14 years, Danielle is fascinated by the humanistic benefits of the arts in healthcare and plans to incorporate the arts into her practice as a future physician.  After medical school, she aspires to enter the disciplines of Ophthalmology or Dermatology.  She is very grateful for Retina Care Consultants’ support in her medical journey.

Scholarship Winner Talia Kawesa.jpg

Talia Kawesa is currently a junior, majoring in Biological Sciences at Florida Atlantic University. She works as a research assistant at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, running binding assay experiments for potential chronic pain treatment. Her goal is to one day have a role in reducing healthcare disparities within the U.S.; she would also like to improve the well-being of her local community by becoming a physician. Aside from school and work, she enjoy digital painting and spending time with her younger siblings.
