Retinal Laser Surgery in Sarasota & Manatee County, FL

Retinal lasers are used to treat specific locations in the retina within the eye. There are several conditions that may benefit from treatment with a retinal laser, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, retinal tear, and retinal detachment.

Retinal lasers are normally performed in the clinic with topical anesthesia. Patients may experience a pinch at the moment of treatment, and irritation of the eye surface or slight headache afterwards. Some patients will benefit from repeat laser treatments for their condition.

The risks of retinal laser are low, but include pain, worsening of vision, macular pucker, bleeding, and cataract. If you experience pain, decreased vision, or other concerning symptoms following a retinal laser, contact your physician.
